Competence Network Quantum Technology in BW |

Networking Program

Leading research institutions and institutes in Baden-Württemberg have joined together to form a nationwide network: the competence network “Quantum Technology – Baden-Württemberg” (QTBW ). The Baden-Württemberg Foundation funds interdisciplinary and cross-site research projects from this network with five million euros. The research program “Quantum Technologies“ of the Baden Württemberg foundation aims at supporting excellent research and existing research groups in Baden-Württemberg and at translating their results into practical applications. As the program focuses on networking only scientific cooperations between research institutes from different locations in Baden-Württemberg will be financed. Currently, there are 10 research projects granted.

The receives an additional one million euros from the Ministry of Science and Arts (MWK) to finance the network activities. The mission of is to bundle the research, development and application of quantum technologies and to strategically position Baden-Württemberg as a leading research location in this forward-looking area. The is coordinated by IQST Director Prof. Joachim Ankerhold (UUlm).

One of the most important tasks of the competence network are to set up an international guest and vistor program and to promote communication and exchange within the partners. In addition, (post-)doctoral students and early career researchers should be given the opportunity to research and work with other network partners over a longer period of time, which also involves local industrial partners. Regular network meetings and so-called status workshops are intended to promote communication across partners and explore points of interest for further joint collaborative projects.
